Palliative Care Training

We believe life should be lived fully and with meaning until the end, and that every individual deserves the option to be cared for at home in their final days.

Today we released our new training manual to all 130 of our care staff – the Palliative Care Caregiver Manual.

The objective of the new training manual is to enhance the learning and skill set of our Caregivers who provide in-home palliative care services.

We are grateful to End of Life Directions in Aged Care (ELDAC) who have provided guidance, resources and funding for our new training initiative. ELDAC have also supported us in our efforts to establish positive working partnerships with other palliative care service providers in our community in order to improve the palliative care of older South Australians.

We had intended to accompany the launch of our training manual with face-to-face training sessions with Linda Dunbar, a Nurse Practitioner in palliative care who contributed to the manual. However, due to current circumstances surrounding COVID-19, we have developed an alternative way for our care staff to complete the training.

We are confident that the release of this new training framework will further enhance the way we provide palliative care at home in Adelaide and Victor Harbor.
